German AKM Clone - 7.62x39mm AK47

This one has the distinctive brown dimpled German plastic stock

The front handguards on the German AK47s are made from a heat resistant bakelite and the upper handguard is the same plastic as the stock and pistol grip

The brown plastic German AK pistol grip is also unique. And in order to install one in the US (according to 922r) the gun must be made with a US made gas piston, receiver, trigger (3 parts) and US magazine (2 or 3 parts)

US style AK47 - 7.62x39mm AK47. This one is not really a clone of any 'real AK' instead it sports a US made 'thumbhole' stock which is much more comfortable to shoot than the typical Thumbhole stocks

Camo Chinese Type 56S - 7.62x39mm AK47. This is a quite rare Chinese Type 56S-2 with folding wire / plastic stock and unique handguards. This one is not built on a US receiver. Instead this rifle was imported in this configuration, and later painted a camo pattern... at the time it was not as rare as it is today

The safety was also modified to work as a bolt hold open (like the Yugo AK). The Chinese rivet pattern is also different than most European AK47 styles

This is another Chinese import, not a US made clone. It has the interesting and fairly rare underfolding spike bayonet

The bayonet is on a hinge and locks closed and open.

While open the Chinese AK47 spike bayonet is very sturdy

There is a slot in the lower handguard for the spike bayonet to fit into when closed

Another import, this one from Romania. A SAR 2 (Semi Auto Rifle #2)

Since the SAR-2 were imported during the 'ban' they had no muzzle devices, so they never threaded the barrels. Now that muzzle devices are no longer banned, it is a simple project to thread the barrel

This Yugo M-70 was built on a US made receiver and an 'AK47 parts kit'
|

These AK47 parts kits are often carved and personalized by the troops that used them. Carvings and stickers are common on used Yugo kits. This lower handguard is carved with "N. Mapnhko" and has a transformers sticker

The Yugo M-70 AK47 have night sights (glow in the dark) that flip up over the standard sights
