Determining AK-47 Year of Manufacture
04/04/2006
Question:    If there's no date stamped on the AK-47 receiver (or elsewhere) how does one determine the approximate date of manufacture from the serial number? The markings I saw were Izhevsk symbol with Russian serial number DN 5xxx L (or maybe P). All the other features (fat underfolder bars, laminated wood grip with base screw, milled receiver, smooth cover) look like it could be anything between 1951 and 1965. No one there knew the date but they though it might be a 1960's version. Anyone know how to tell?
Answer:  Where is this rifle? Thats quite a rare item you have. Lets see some pictures

yugo AK47 underfold build
04/01/2006
Question:    I am building a yugo underfold kit with a ewbanks receiver. On the rear trunnion top rivet do I have to drill all the way through the trunnion to get the rivet out or is it two rivets like all the rest. Any info would be helpful. thanks for your time.
Answer:  Hold on

First, Yuogs need an RPK receiver one with the lumps up front. Are you planning to ruin your Yugo kit by grinding it's front trunion?

So you don't want to build an a typical AKM receiver you want an RPK recevier from NoDak

Rear trunions all have single rivits all the way through no? So I'm not sure what you are asking

Question:    I just purchased a new in the box Polytech Legend. The only problem is that the owners manual is missing. Do you have any idea's where I might be able to purchase one?
Answer:  We have some user manuals online check out www.AK-47.us but I don't know of anyplace that has AK47 user manuals from rifles that haven't been imported for like 20 years now. Keep an eye out, they must be out there at gun shows and websites
