| Question:
Hey, I purchased a MAK-90 some time ago, and recently found out it had a threaded barrel. It had a cover over the threads that had been tack welded on, and after a recent trip to the range they managed to shear off (not sure why, but pleased with the result). Anyway, I recently purchased an AK-74 style muzzle brake from Tapco, and with some light use of a small file to get the welds ground off, I put the new brake on with no problem (it fits very evenly). But... it is a little loose, and though it does have clearance for the bullet to pass through, the opening is not nearly as wide as that on a slant-cut muzzle brake. As of now I have had no problems shooting with it (the bullet does not strike the muzzle brake on the way out---yet) But it is noticeably loose (it does have the spring-loaded pin keeping it steady, but it can be wiggled with the hand). Should I be concerned about it wearing the threads, or wiggling when I shoot and possibly getting more loose (to the point of being a hazard)? AK47

Answer:
without seeing it I can only go with what you describe
SOunds like a typical AK muzzle device
Go to a gun shop and 'wiggle' a few other types of AK47 you'll see that most if not all have some room to wiggle |

wanting to buy an assault rifle before it is impossible. is a bushmaster considered a ak47? what is the difference between a ak47 and a ar15? thanks for the site, it can be VERY intimidating asking certain questions at a gun show or store. some dealers are SOOOOO condescending.

Question:
My front slant musslebreak on this AK47 is loose and not strait. Is there a way to fix/tighten? I now the Romanians are kindof junk..

Answer:
That is normal and they are designed that way
It is NOT put on wrong, they are suposed to be on off center, look at any other AK with a slant break
Loose is also normal
Romanians are cheap, but it is other things that are wrong with some of them, NOT the muzzle break |
