| How would anti-virus software work for me |
|
|
| Question:
How would anti-virus software work for me if Im only on the computer occasionally?
|
Answer:
Antivirus is software..
It's job is to 'know' about every virus
(so that means it needs to 'call in' to it's main office for the updates each day)
Then it has to 'watch' for viruses..
So it runs all the time, watching for viruses or things that are virus like
Sometimes it will also do a deep scan and do a detailed look at all the data and empty space on the hard drives for anything that looks like a virus
It does other things but this is all we care about for now
So if you use the computer only occasionally, you will be in danger of being vulnerable occasionally to the very newest viruses
The anti-virus may never get to do a full deep scan
I doubt any software brand or type you decide on will change that if you seriously only use the PC occasionally
But..
Who cares that’s the condition of most computers So it shouldn't really matter what you decide to do
Always remember to NOT click on links in ANY email from someone you don't know And stay off the 'bad' websites (porn and illegal stuff) and you'll pretty much be OK

| Is there value in having antivirus software run 24/7 |
|
|
| Question:
Is there value in having antivirus software there to catch a virus immediately rather than just running once each day. Of course, I only turn my computer on maybe once a day or sometimes not at all.
|
| Answer:
AVG is always on and protecting me from viruses, It also 'wakes up' and actively 'looks' once a day for any that might have 'snuck past it' |

| What do you think of Trend antivirus |
|
|
| Question:
What do you think of this product as an antivirus solution that would run continuously on our machines? One of the tech people here has recommended it. He uses it at home, too.
|
Answer:
Well..
I am not going to crap on his suggestion. I used Trend Micro's (online) anti-virus for many years. It was a good product, and I have no reason to think it is not still a good program without all the hassles of the old names
However I no longer use Trend, unless I have a virus. Once I've removed it, I use Trend to help verify it's gone
I use a free version of the Antivirus from AVG
It's been working fine for me.. meaning it does a good job of finding and killing off viruses, it runs a daily scan and leaves me alone without wasting resources on my computer
It's not perfect, but it's free

| I have three children and my back seat only seats... |
|
|
| Question:
I have three children and my back seat only seats two. I transport all three kids to school and other activities. I've heard that children belong in the rear seat. What can I do?
|
| Answer:
You're right. The safest place is the rear seat. However, there are times when placing all children in the rear isn't possible (as in your case where there aren't enough belts for all three children). If you must seat a child in the front seat, usually the oldest/largest child would be the most appropriate. If your child is the proper size, make sure that the lap and shoulder belts are properly fastened and move the vehicle seat back as far as possible away from the dashboard. NOTE: If your vehicle has a passenger-side air bag, the only place for a rear-facing infant seat to be installed is in the rear seat. |
