| Do not know about this receiver, But there is no law against semiauto build. Tha mystery is that BATF and other liberals have cloak of secrecy that tries to fuzz our right to be armed. so if your state allows as i understand there is no federal law prohibiting build, as long as it is not full auto. in fact in parts build there is no registration necessary. i am learning this as i want to start importing and am looking at the best way to save our trees in the process. After reading Arnold's post, I am asking myself the same question - mainly, whether someone in NY can legally purchase a Romanian G parts kit (as seen on gunbroker, buy or build a stamped receiver and fabricate a custom rifle without running into problems with the BATF or state agencies.
I have searched the internet to TRY to find out the answers to this question, but to date have had no success.
One question that I have had is whether the "Romy G" kits (which contain some full auto parts) are even legal to possess in this state, possibly violating some NFA ordinance or state regulation (the only possible answer that I can think of at the moment is to demand that all 'full auto parts' not be included in any purchase - and I am still wondering whether a semi-auto can legally be made uing a full-auto bolt carrier, or whether any distinguishing features will need to be modified to make this identical to the semi-auto bolt carrier for legal purposes).
I'd be interested to hear from "arnold little" to see whether any or all of his questions have been answered.
I'm not relishing the prospect of calling the regional office of the BATF or the state attorney general's office in NY to have these questions answered (or whether they have the answers to give me without the long, drawn-out letter writing process).
I would agree that there appears to be a cloud of mystery (or cloak of secrecy) about the actual RULES to LEGALLY do something like this.
I'm not sure that this is the proper forum to ask these questions, but since I noticed this post, I figured that I would ask.
Any who have actually attempted this sort of project in NY or has had these questions answered satisfactorily) would be welcome to answer my questions. From: roger terbush |
