WASR-10 High Cap Model 2
Bubba's Review:
Cartridge: 7.62 x 39 mm I have heard of many happy WASR-10 owners, and for the low price they are a good deal for an AK47. I do not own one. A post-ban Romanian No side dimples on the receiver to keep magazines from moving, instead have plates welded inside reciver. Were originally built to accept low cap magazines (single stack) then were 'opened' to accept High Capacity magazines as well. Has wood similar to the SAR -1

Its not a bad deal for a starter AK. Rough looking, but well built and reliable. Most of the reviews I,ve read are good. I love mine and plan to hold on to it. You better get one now while you still can.
Pros:
Its extremely reliable, tough, and ammo is cheap but powerful. It will drop a deer or a hog. It accepts lots of accessories, and it likes dirt.
Cons:
canted sights, mag wobble, not as accurate as I would have liked but that may be atributed to the sights and/or my shooting. Most of the issues can be fixed.

Great rifle! Designed correctly. Great to throw behind the seat in case you need to shoot a snake or coyote. I haven't had as much fun or shot so much in the last thirty years.
Pros:
How much more bang do you want for the buck? It shoots staight doesn't it. I don't know what it would take break it. And unless you are from "New Yark" you can completely maintain this rifle by yourself
Cons:
Well, the wood isn't any worse than that on my 03-A3 Springfield

Pros:
Parts and excessaries plentiful, ammo cheap, mags too, legal to hunt with in most states (cheaper than just about any hunting rifle)

Get one maybe two. After doing your homework you don't think a wasr 10 is a good buy , maybe you would like a nickleplated sissy pistol to show off to your buddys. I like this rifle and i can trust it to work. It was made for war and it'll take a beating and keep on working. A true working mans rifle , at a working mans price.
Pros:
For the money one is well armed, it won't lockup on ya if you skip a cleanig or two or leave it in a damp place too long .Ammo has been going up but still under the rest, way under.
Cons:
It's not your grandpa's .22 . You get looks even at the range. If i had it my way the mag would slide in ,not rocking in to place.

Shoots well and seems to be tough. I put 1000 rounds through it the weekend I got it with no problems. For the shooting that most people do it gets the job done and looks great doing it.

Fit and finish pretty good (for an AK). Front sight and gas block dead on straight. Barrel axis seems level. It fed several hundred rounds flawlessly, some after throwing a small handful of dirt in the receiver. I used my 25 yard pistol target range to battle sight it. (I put it at 3/4" below point of aim at 25 with iron sights to get it close to dead on POA at 100).

I shot for group, leaning on the edge of my little tractor and at 25 yards easily covered the five shot group with a quarter. Ammo was Wolf black box FMJ. AT 100 yards or so, I was nailing rocks and cans with regularity.

Didn't experience any trigger slap (though I am not sure what it is, as the Poly Tech I owned 20 years ago and the Russian military one I fired longer ago than that didn't seem to have any that I remember).I had forgotten how much fun an AK is to shoot!
Pros:
 -Cheap ammo
-RELIABLE even with dirt in the receiver
-Tough
-Lots of firepower
-Lots of accessories available
-I have less into the gun, 11 magazines,
pouches, bayonet, cleaning kit, sight
tool, and 2,000 of ammo than the
5.56mm M4 I built myself alone!
-Cool as heck, 15 on a 10 scale!
-And as was stated by someone else on
this board, it is easier to maintain
than your penis<g>.
Cons:
Not as pretty as my M4
Shorter range than my M4, especially when I use 77 grainers in the 5.56 1/7 barrel.
Thats about all I can think of!

Whether you want an AK to "build-up" or shoot out of the box, for the price and expected craftsmanship (It ain't made in the good ol' USA)it's definately a bargain. If you go to gun shows you'll be able to pick up some of the aforementioned items at agood price and make this a dependable rifle. I am in the process of 'DuraCoating' mine to match the new stock. I hear you can coat wood stocks, so there's some more $$ you can save.
Pros:
If you don't do anything to it at all (as I did at first), all you have to do is disassemble, clean, reassemble and then shoot the hell out of it. Other than the unsightly reciever dimples when first purchased, this weapon wasn't all that bad. Magazine not as loose as some I've seen. Did I mention the price?
Cons:
The furniture is nothing to brag about. Mine also had the muzzle break in a sideward position when first purchased as well as the aforementioned reciever dimples. (All of these and more can be remedied)

the rifle had lot's of grease, so do the Marine thing clean it!!! I found to my surprise and horror, RUST in the recoil spring a surrounding area, also the supplied tools were rusty, the mag was a little pitted, the bayonet mechanism was rusty, called Century and complained. But i just cleaned it up and decided to shoot it. Well I've been told i clean up well, so does this rifle. It shoot well and did fair on accuracy. But I was bummed out about all the rust, cleaned it up and sold it. Good luck

If you want a new AK, get this one and get it and some mags before Bush leaves office in January '09. In 20 years these guns will be looked upon as pre-86 guns are regarded today with people saying "Why didn't I get one when they were available over the counter and cheaply" and "Remember when..." Out of the box it is pretty accurate and requires no excuses - extremely good value. Purchased mine at Shooter's Supply in Louisville. Not my first AKM. I owned several Norinco types in the early 1990's. Gun has good quality Tapco fire control parts, no issues with feed and front site base was correctly installed. Overall I would rate the gun as well made with little or no effort put into polishing tool marks or sand casting marks from parts prior to metal finishing except where moving parts interact. Finish and trigger are better than the Norinco Type 56's or MAK-90's. Bayonet did not fit out of the box, had to file right side and rear of the lug slightly (a few passes)to make it fit. Laminate stock looks just great, like a 98k. Only complaint is lack of mag retaining dimples, and this only from an aesthetic point of view. Other than that, it looks perfectly military. I am very proud of this gun - you will be also.
Pros:
Lightweight, easy to use without training. High impact on the WOW factor. I prefer it to my DPMS M4 from a shooting and use standpoint. Both are probaly capable of greater accuracy than I am. Scope rail a great feature. good trigger relative to Chinese AK's

No Mag dimples, mag tends to wobble

All in all the gun at first maybe dissapointing at first, but don't give up! The stocks can be replaced with some very beautiful ones, canted parts can be replaced with US parts. It may have scratches, but can be covered with refinishes to make it look good. Once you get this gun the way you like it, it will work smoothly.
Pros:
The gun has very good accuracy, but it all depends on the shooter. It's very easy to clean. Once you clean the gun very well it starts to shoot very smoothly. It's very durable, and reliable.
Cons:
May have machining burrs, but can be fixed with simple tools (when first bought check magazine area, and the trigger area). Stocks are not the best, but can be replaced.

First things first....CLEAN IT AS SOON AS YOU GET IT! There will be a lot of cosmoline and you should clean as soon as possible. its very easy to take apart and put back together. It shoots perectly( at least with mine) and is very accurate. The Safety is hard to set of as I had to use all my might to set it to fire. Very loud.
You may want to stain and put varnish on it because it won't have any finish and the wood may not always match like mine did. had to stain mine. If you want a reliable ak without havein to pay so much for so little, get a Wasr 10!
Pros:
It's very tough, reliable, easy to sight, and very good buy for what you get at its pirce. So far after firing 600 rounds No jams or misfires or trigger slap.
Cons:
The magizine wobbles slightly but one of my clips ( out of the two that cam wit it) was used and it looked like it had seen better days. Wood may need some work.

8 Stars. Why 8 stars for this "piece of crap"? It cost me $350 new, hits what I aim at, and fires the worst ammo I could find every time I pull the trigger. If I found a crooked gas port on a $1250 DSArms FAL, a $1500 AR10, or a $1800 M1A I'd be furious! On a $350 centerfire gun that works fine, who cares? In my opinion any magazine fed semi-auto rifle that functions reliably (as most AK's do) for under $400 is an 8 out of 10 any day. I didn't buy it to show it off, I bought it to shoot.
Pros:
Bought it with 1000 rounds of the cheapest ammo (Wolf) I could find. Took it to the range the next day and shot all 1000 rounds (well worth the $120 in ammo). The gun functioned fine. No jams, no mis-feads, no mis-fires. Within 100 yards I hit everything I aimed at. Got too hot to hold the forend but still shot fine. It's no safe queen but it'll shoot when you pull the trigger and hit anything within 100 yards (my local range max distance.)
Cons:
Rough around the edges. You can tell by looking at it that Century had to dremmel out the mag well to adapt it to take hi-cap mags. The trigger is rough & gritty and tends to slap back a bit. The gas port is a little crooked. The no-ban slant brake is cross threaded on and will not come off (unless I cut it off). It looks fine so I'll leave it but I would've liked the option to change it at some point. The finish is a bit rough. The wood has a rough black greasy stain all over it. Also the magazine wiggles a bit because the receiver has no side dimples.

What can I say.. it's an AK? Rugged. Ultra practical; there's no extras, just a highly reliable rifle. After all these decades the AK still holds it's own with recent rifle designs. 7.62x39 has a good punch w/medium bullet diameter and weight. Perhaps the best all around sporting/range rifle to date.
Pros:
 light
reliable
compact
inexpensive ammo
excellent engineering
chrome lined barrel
