Review:
Great rifle, super quality compared to romanian and other surplus rifles. 1.5mm thick receiver that is properly heat treated. Heavy duty sight block and heavy barrel even on the 16 inch version. Top notch fit and finish, no need to have a cocked front sight because of mis-aligned parts. Everything on this gun screams attention to detail. The only other ak that has compared is my polytech ak76s which is almost identical in quality to the MAK
Pros:
heavy duty receiver, heavy barrel and sight block, super fit and finish, straight and true, overall this package is hard to beat
Cons:
tree trunck stock yuck!!!, swap out the rear stock for a standard unit and you are ready to rock and rock. Also there is no cleaning rod under the barrel, not a huge deal but it would be nice to have.

Review:
This is the homeland security rifle for the middle class! I have worked on mine and tuned it to a point that it is my choice for most pleasure plinking. I added a Tapco trigger set which I polished and added stops on both ends so the trigger is now better than my HK-91. Also added a AK-74 type muzzle brake which helped with recoil. A thin rubber pad on the choate buttstock and a few pieces of grip tape made it easy to hold on target.
Pros:
Reliable, fun to shoot. Ammo was cheap...not any more. Mags were cheap...not any more. I bought 12 30 rounders when they were $10. each.:-)
Cons:
The thumbhole stock had to go...replaced with a choate. Mags were a little difficult to insert until I deburred the top section of each mag.
Trigger sucked until replaced with Tapco.

I was pretty impressed when varmint hunting with my brothers. Not only did the .223 mak score the most kills throughout the day, but it seem to reach out a little further then my brother HMR 17. Also it would rip a little bit more fur than the HMR. The shells aren't very much more expensive, and score a hit further with less spent shells. All in all i think the .223 cartridge was more dominant than the HMR 17.
Pros:
easy to disassemble and clean, but hell shoots better when dirty.
Cons:
That shitty stock that comes with it, got rid of the piece of crap when i first got the rifle. I like the folding stock easy to carry in a truck, four wheeler, or car. Fold it out and let em rip.

MY FIRST AK. MADE BY POLYTECHNOLOGIES. BOUGHT IT RIGHT BEFORE THE PRICES WENT UP. SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT MORE.
Pros:
ABOVE AVERAGE ACCURACY, WORKS WITH RUSSIAN, ROMY, CHINESE AND DOMESTIC MAGS. eVEN THE CHINESE 75RD DRUM. ON MY SECOND THUMBHOLE STOCK, NO COMPLAINTS ON THE FIT. MAYBE MY LONG FINGERS HAVE LESS PROBLEMS REACHING THE TRIGGER THAN AVERAGE SIZED HANDS. 2500+ RDS AND NO MALFS.

Review:
I read these reviews on this sight and others like it befor I bought this thing and was sure it would be a good deal and an accurate well made rendition of the AK. It was all BS. I am here to tell you that mine was nearly new and showed not even the slightest signs of wear, I got it at an estate sale after an old man died. It was well taken care of is my point. And yet its probably the worst model AK I've owen. I have An SAR1 and an SA-85M and now, of coarse this pile of crap. I can't believe anyone actully likes this model, it is heavy, ill fitted and uncomfortable and inaccurate, oh and won't accept magazines from its country of origen, not to mention lack of cleaning rod. However if you can get over these things it seems that all parts and accesories ever produced are for the MAK-90 and devoted to the cause of putting back to standard configuration. Save your money and buy a WASR-10 or an SAR-1. They are more accurate and actully accept any high cap mag. But alas, for all my complaning I still can't rate it to low because it is still an AK Afterall.
Pros:
1.5mm stamping adds extra weight and a nice feel to the weapon, also has hardwood stock and foregrip and a heavy barrel directly from the type 56.
Cons:
Overall fit and finish of this beatiful hardwood is pathetic at best, this piece of crap rattles and clanks so bad it's not even funny. and the thumbhole stock? forget about it, the hole in the stock must have been cut by a blind man with no perception of spacial reasoning. Not to mention if you bump fire it the screws holding the stock loosen and the stock falls off. Also the 75 round chinese drums made for the gun get stuck in the mag well when it gets hot and stuff expands.

I love both guns, I have a colt A4, M1A also. If it came down to the wire..the AK's would be the first I took. this is due to the availability of parts, and the low cost of ammunition.
Pros:
Never had a malfunction on either rifle, parts are readily available..cheap to shoot.
Cons:
The milled chinese norinco does not accept parts such as stock sets, receiver cover mounts, etc. The difference between a a milled verson and stamped at least on the Norincos can catch you by suprise...be ready if you own a milled Norinco.
