I am the 2nd owner of my B-West AK 47/S The man I bought it from paid an ungodly amount on money for it in 1994 when the crime bill took effect. He said he had fired hundreds of rounds through it and I have fired it at least 100 times myself. I remember B-West from the early 1990's, they got in trouble over this rifle because they had the US Made AK receivers made down the street from them at a local machine shop (off their property), and did not inform ATF of this. Long story made short, AFT shut them down and no one got jail time. As stated before this AK has been shot at least 500 times with no apparent weakness, and all parts apear to be Poly Tech except the US made receiver. |
| Pros: |
It is my understanding they were made on Poly Tech parts kits , which are considered by many to be the best kits ever. Receivers produced in either 1993 or 94 and rifle's built in those same years. Fit and finish is very good over most of the gun, however finish on the US made receiver is only fair to good. Sharp Looking Rifle. |
| Cons: |
rumors about the quality of receivers and it's heat treatment short-commings? Who knows if it's true?? Dust cover will rattle some if gun is shaken. |

Not much known about them.Have heard US receivers are no good.Until someone can prove it through documentation case history.I wouldn't worry about it.IMO this is a well made weapon. As with all surplus weapons one should go over them thoroughly after shooting them. There is no excuse for poor maintenance of a weapon.I think this is a lot of Gunshop rumors on the US made receivers.I challenge someone to prove it. |
| Pros: |
Very tight mag don't rattle like Mak-90s do.Like folding stock with the bakelite. |
| Cons: |
Dislike folding bayonet. |

Only firearm I've handled that knocked me out, literally. |
| Pros: |
A small number are built on NORINCO-brand receivers. Otherwise, they make fine wall-hangers provided you don't shoot/destroy them first. |
| Cons: |
A large number are built on B-West receivers. Of them a fair number were pieced together by tyros from part sets sold by B-West. The latter are to be avoided as they are, in many cases, bombs-on-a-stick. No headspacing check performed so they're likely to go off out-of-battery as happened to me. |
