While being a Firearms and Ammunition Independent Lab here in Central Nebraska.
I did commercial testing for a few companies.
To make a long story short = I tested many hanguns and a variety of ammunition. The most accurate, same hole at 25 yards, was the Desert Eagle 44 mag. I did test some ammunition that wasn't even powerfull enough to work the action but most did. No FFF or falures to cleanly eject other than what I mentioned above. I was told by some that they loaded their ammunition for revolvers not automatics. You can guess what my thoughs were on that subject.
I have taken more deer with 44 mag than any other rifle or pistol cartridge! |

I have had only one session at a range with a rented DE .44 Mag and I found it very accurate. I don't remember any problem cycling rounds, but I only fired a few magazines. And, I did not have to try to clean it. If I were going to war, this would be the sidearm I would choose first. Probably too big for daily concealed carry. |
| Pros: |
Accurate, lots of stopping power |
| Cons: |
Big and heavy |

I bought a 6" DE at a local gun shop, looked down the barell, clean as new. shot the gun.240 grain fmj, every other round would not cycle.. got home ,the owner did not include the case, instruction manual for cleaning, a small tool as i understand is needed for some part of the cleaning process.. nothing.. ask me who much fun i'm having trying to figure this SOB out.. I have to go on-line and aquire a owners manual and any tools that are needed to cmplete the cleaning process. word of advise.. buy no gun without proper guides, and have some idea how to clean the damn thing.. |

| Cons: |

when i purchased the 44 mag. desert eagle i was dissapointed by how many times it failed to cycle the last 2 rounds. After contacting magnum research they informed me the firearm was designed for the .50AE and the 44mag could give problems. After purchasing the .50 conversion pack i will never find time again to fire 44 magsfrom the pistol. Anyone interested in a .44 mag barrell and slide? |
| Pros: |
not as much recoil |
| Cons: |
very unpredictable cycleing |
